In French, Mardi Gras means “Fat Tuesday” referring to the last day before lent. This two week festival is celebrated throughout the world, including the Gulf Coast area. It’s one of the most decorated parties of the year. Festival-goers disguise themselves in elaborate masks, attend parades and eat, drink and dance to excess until the wee hours of the morning.
